Daylark — Privacy Policy

Daylark is developed and published by Aksel ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data Daylark handles, where it lives, and the choices you have.

The short version: your data stays on your device. We do not collect, receive, sell, or share anything.

1. What Daylark is

Daylark is an iOS app that helps you remember to take a daily pill and keep track of whether you took it. It is a reminder and adherence tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.

2. Data the app stores — on your device only

To do its job, Daylark stores the following locally on your iPhone:

Pill schedule settings — pill type, pack start date, pills per pack, your chosen intake time, and reminder window.
Dose history — for each day: taken, missed, skipped, or placebo, and the time you logged it.
App preferences — reminder escalation settings, discreet mode, biometric lock, refill threshold, and similar options.

This information never leaves your device unless you turn on iCloud sync (see Section 4) or use the export feature yourself (see Section 6).

3. Data we collect: none

No account. Daylark has no sign-up, login, or user account system.
No servers. We operate no backend that receives your data.
No analytics or tracking. The app contains no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, trackers, or third-party code that transmits data.
No identifiers. We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, usage statistics, or crash reports through the app.

Accordingly, Daylark's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected."

4. Optional iCloud sync (off by default)

Daylark includes an optional iCloud sync feature. It is turned off by default.

If you choose to turn it on:

Your Daylark data is synced through your own Apple ID's private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit), so it can appear on your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID.
The data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple's infrastructure and terms. We have no access to it — we cannot read, retrieve, or restore it, and nothing is sent to us.
You can turn sync off at any time in the app's settings. For how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple's iCloud privacy documentation.

5. HealthKit

Daylark does not integrate with Apple HealthKit. The app does not read from or write to the Health app.

6. Export and deletion — you are in control

Export: You can export your complete dose history and settings from within the app at any time (Settings → Export). The export is generated on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet; where you send it is entirely up to you.
Delete: You can erase all Daylark data from within the app (Settings → Delete All Data). Deleting the app from your device also removes its local data. If you enabled iCloud sync, disable it and delete the app's iCloud data via the in-app erase function or your device's iCloud storage management.

Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on any server.

7. Health data and the GDPR (Article 9)

Records of when you take a pill can constitute special-category health data under Article 9 of the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Daylark is designed so that this sensitive data is processed only on your device (and, if you opt in, within your own iCloud account) — it is never transmitted to us or any third party by the app.

Because we do not collect or process your personal data, we do not act as a data controller for your dose history in the ordinary course of using the app. You remain in sole control of this data. If you contact us by email and voluntarily share personal information, we use it only to respond to you and act as controller for that correspondence, with Aksel established under Norwegian law.

You always retain your rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, and data portability — which the app's built-in export and delete features let you exercise directly, without needing to ask us.

8. Notifications

Reminder notifications are scheduled and delivered locally by iOS on your device. Daylark does not use remote push notifications and no notification content is sent through our or any third party's servers. You can adjust notification wording sensitivity using the app's discreet mode.

9. Children

Daylark is not directed at children under 13. It stores no personal data with us regardless of the user's age.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it in the app's release notes. Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
