Snapdeck keeps your data on your device wherever possible, requires no account, and performs no analytics or tracking of any kind. Photos are processed on-device. Flashcards, decks, and study history never leave your iPhone.
One exception — card generation on some devices: on iPhones with Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro and newer, iOS 26+), card generation runs entirely on-device. On all other devices, the text of your notes is sent — over an encrypted connection, with no account or name attached — to our processing function and to Google's Gemini API to generate the flashcards.
Camera & Photo Library. Images you capture or pick are read on-device by Apple's Vision framework for text recognition (OCR). Images are never uploaded.
Card generation. On iPhone 15 Pro and newer, Apple's on-device Foundation Models create the cards — nothing leaves the device. On other iPhones, only the text of the notes you choose to convert is sent over HTTPS to our serverless function (hosted on Supabase) and forwarded to Google's Gemini API, which returns the cards. We attach no account, name, email, or device identifier — only an anonymous token used to prevent abuse. We do not store your notes on our server. Note: Snapdeck currently uses Google's free Gemini tier, under which Google may use the submitted text to improve their models — see Google's Gemini API terms. If you prefer not to send notes to the cloud, use an Apple-Intelligence-capable device.
Decks, cards & study data. Stored locally on your device (SwiftData + UserDefaults). Nothing is synced to a cloud service by Snapdeck.
Home Screen widget. Shares due-count and streak with the app through an on-device App Group. No network request involved.
Local notifications. Daily reminders are scheduled on-device by iOS. No server involved.
In-app purchases. Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Snapdeck never sees your payment details.
No personal data, usage data, or tracking — ever. No analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising, no third-party tracking libraries, no accounts. The only data that ever leaves your device is, on non-Apple-Intelligence devices, the text of the notes you choose to turn into flashcards — sent anonymously to generate the cards (see above). It is not linked to your identity.
Snapdeck does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
